The Company You Keep

One of the most difficult challenges we face is time management, too often we find ourselves chasing the clock. At best, we make it to work, get the children squared away then burn the late-night candles to catch up on deadlines, emails, and to-do lists. No matter the person or situation once, we allow things to dictate our schedule it does not ease up (the rat race). It is no surprise that with all the obligations and unexpected emergencies, how one’s day can quickly shift into turbo speed. Leading to high levels of stress that become the precursor to unnecessary illnesses, all of which could have been bypassed by managing one’s time.

To add insult to injury one in every three working adults get less than six hours of sleep, so on top of the heavy demands of life, we’re sleep deprived too. College slightly prepares us for this method of living, after all, this is being an adult; no sleep, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, and zero complaining because everyone has to do it! Long gone are the days of a slow pace society, just in my 32 years of existence; I’ve witnessed Sundays become stores’ normal operating hours except Chick-fil-A, and of course, it’s probably others. Even holidays slowly lost their effect on slowing down the busyness of life in America however, most other countries somehow combated the demand for commerce.

Neither for moral nor ethical reasons will the government step in to manage our time for us we must realize the importance of time ourselves. I must go on record and say I do not believe we don’t know the importance of time. For people that do manage their time well, statistics have shown to have a high quality of life due in part to our work/life balance.

Where does working out get into the equation? Especially since we’re already chasing time, who has time for self-care? Yeah, I know it is Rhetorical, only to hammer home the importance of time management. Fitness and nutrition should be in all our lives. Those two elements have science-backed evidence of reducing stress while enhancing the quality of life. One of the main reasons I got into the business was to help my clients reach that balance. 20 to 30 minutes of exercise a day is enough to help keep our bodies functioning optimally throughout our limited time here. With a solid nutrition plan, gains will chase you down, live life, and stay fit!
